About us

Preserving our history, capturing our spirit

Established in 1993, the Boston Children’s Hospital Archives acquires, preserves and makes available the historical records that document the ongoing history of Boston Children’s, its staff, support personnel, patients and families.

The archives maintains a wide variety of collection materials including letters, personal papers, photographs, artifacts, oral histories. These original records document the evolution of the institution, attest to Boston Children’s many ground breaking contributions to pediatric healthcare, teaching and research, and guiding principles that have inspired generations of physicians, nurses and healthcare professionals. The collections also mirror the institutions policies, organization and culture — and capture the spirit of an era.
